ACCESSIBILITY

We are committed to ensuring that our museum, heritage site, website and resources are accessible to all visitors, regardless of ability. We strive to provide an inclusive digital experience that meets accessibility standards and best practices.

Reliable Access

Our site features accessible pathways, ramps, and designated seating areas to accommodate mobility needs. We also offer visual and audio resources to enhance the experience for visitors with visual or hearing impairments. Our goal is to make the history of the Oro Black settlers available to everyone through thoughtful design and accommodations.

If you require specific accessibility services or have feedback on how we can improve, please contact us in advance of your visit. We are dedicated to ensuring that all guests can fully engage with and appreciate this important historical site.

  • Currently there are portable restrooms on site. Please note for those that are elderly or have trouble walking it can be an arduous walk for some.

  • As the site is in a rural area we encourage visitors with limited mobility to be accompanied by a caregiver or helper. AS a reminder the portable restrooms can be difficult for those in wheelchairs.

  • During open tours our docents use speakers and microphones for our tour presentations

  • During tours handouts and historical take aways are provided and allow those who are hearing impaired or deaf to access the historical context of the tours.

  • As the church is over 175 years old we encourage touch and feel of the church building to get a feeling of the way the church was constructed in the mid 1800s.
